篷布在使用中應能承受各種拉力，如固定時的拉力、使用過程中的風、雨、結(jié)等附加力。雖然有這些外力作用，但還是需要保持原有的形狀，不易變形，這就要求篷布的拉伸強度很高，垂直和水平拉伸強度不宜相差太大。特別是對于用于充氣施工的大型方艙來說，拉伸強度尤為重要。基布通常由高強度聚酯、聚酯等長纖維織物制成。表面用氯乙烯樹脂和氯磺化聚乙烯樹脂處理。產(chǎn)品的強度主要取決于纖維材料的強度和織物的密度。

The strength of a product mainly depends on the strength of the fiber material and the density of the fabric.

防水是防水布的一個重要特點。氯乙烯樹脂通過浸漬填充到織物結(jié)構(gòu)的縫隙中，形成薄膜。如果單位面積的樹脂附著力超過一定程度，耐水性不成問題。如果薄膜較薄，在彎曲、摩擦或磨損時容易斷裂，可能會產(chǎn)生渾水。

Waterproofing is an important feature of waterproof cloth. Vinyl chloride resin is impregnated and filled into the gaps of the fabric structure to form a thin film. If the resin adhesion per unit area exceeds a certain level, water resistance is not a problem. If the film is thin, it is prone to breakage during bending, friction, or wear, and may produce muddy water.
